Meet Our Ballarat Team
Dr Gilbert Ko is passionate about providing the highest quality dental care to all his patients. He takes the time to get to know his patients and ensure they feel relaxed during treatment. Dr Gilbert enjoys educating patients on maintaining optimal oral health and helping them achieve a smile they love!
Gilbert enjoys all disciplines of dentistry with special interests in cosmetic dentistry and dental implants. As well as taking care of his patients, Gilbert undertook further training at the University of Melbourne graduating with a Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry (Dental Implants) in 2022.
In his spare time, Gilbert enjoys catching up with friends and supporting his beloved Richmond Tigers! He is also passionate about travel and looks forward to being able to travel again soon! However, nothing beats spending quality time with his family.
Dr Wendy Peng graduated from Melbourne University in 2009 and have since done extensive training in the field of Orthodontics and Facial Aesthetics. In 2022, Wendy graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics through the City of London Dental School. She is very passionate about improving the lives of her patients with airway-focused dentistry.
Wendy’s particular interest lies in practicing functional orthodontics – where the promotion of healthy facial growth and development in children is an integral part of the overall treatment. Wendy uses removable, fixed and myofunctional appliances combined with braces or Invisalign clear aligners to create healthy and beautiful smiles. She has an eye for detail and loves helping patients achieving the smile they have always wanted.
Outside of dentistry, Wendy loves spending time with family and friends as well as attending to her growing collection of indoor plants.
Dr Claire Johnson graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2005, with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours. She has since worked primarily in private practice in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Melbourne and now Ballarat where she and her young family have settled to live for the long term.
Dr Claire’s extensive experience combines with her gentle and friendly manner to provide a positive and stress free dental experience for her patients.
Dr Claire is passionate about delivering the highest level of care in a wide range of dental procedures. This includes general family dentistry, dentures, implants, restorations, root canals and cosmetic dental work.
Away from the surgery Dr Claire and her husband are raising their two beautiful young children. She loves trail running and exploring the outdoors with her family and labrador.
Graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Melbourne, Dr. Cindy had been working in both regional and metro areas of Victoria, including Shepparton, Cobram, and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. Now proud to call Ballarat home, Dr. Cindy is committed to serving the local community with her gentle, conservative, and patient-centric approach to dentistry.
Dr. Cindy understands the importance of clear communication and ensuring every patient feels comfortable and at ease during their visit. She recognises that visiting the dentist can be nerve-racking for some, and she strives to create a pleasant and stress-free experience for all her patients. With an interest in restorative dentistry, Dr. Cindy is dedicated to helping her patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles that last.
Beyond the dental chair, Dr. Cindy enjoys exploring new cooking recipes, spending quality time with loved ones, and indulging in hobbies such as board games, polymer clay, and sewing.
Dr Shree is a passionate dentist with a decade long experience across various facets of general dentistry. With a strong commitment to patients’ wellbeing and care, Shree specialises in restorative treatments, endodontic procedures and aesthetic enhancements.
Shree believes in the delivery of comprehensive dental care and that teeth well looked after are teeth that can last a lifetime. She loves educating and creating awareness among children on the importance of oral hygiene and overall healthy living. As a patient of Dr Shree, you can expect to be taken care of in the most gentle and caring manner.
In her spare time you’ll find Shree exploring places in and around Victoria, running after her two children, practicing yoga and shopping on the weekends of course.
Dr Mariz completed her Master of Dentistry at La Trobe University and loves all aspects of general dentistry. Having grown up in regional Victoria, she has a passion for educating patients about the importance of oral health and disease prevention.
Mariz understands that going to the dentist can be stressful for some. She strives to create a dental experience as comfortable and stress free as possible and her gentle nature helps put many at ease.
Outside of work, Mariz loves to travel, play her violin, and spend time with family and friends.
Dr Roopa is a passionate and gentle dentist practicing all aspects of general dentistry ranging from preventative dentistry to root canals and crowns. Adopting evidence-based dentistry, Roopa likes to educate her patients about their oral health and provides the utmost patient care through informed decision-making.
Roopa is known for her calming demeanour. As an accredited mental health first-aider (MHFA Australia), Roopa is known to alleviate dental anxiety in nervous adults and children striving to make their dental appointments as stress-free as possible. She is committed to delivering high-quality patient care by creating a comfortable environment for her patients.
Outside of work, Roopa likes to paint, explore cafes, restaurants and loves playing with her dog Dennis.
Dr Emilie Tan completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Biomedical Science at Monash University before studying the Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Melbourne. Emilie was born in Ballarat however her family moved to Melbourne in her early years; she has since moved back to practise dentistry.
Emilie’s friendly and compassionate demeanour helps patients feel comfortable and relaxed during treatment. Emilie has a strong focus on prevention and minimally invasive dentistry and ensures clear communication to help patients have a great experience.
Emilie has a special interest in Endodontics (root canal treatments) and is a member of both the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Endontology.
Outside of dentistry Emilie loves trying new restaurants, exploring around regional Victoria and being involved in various music groups in Ballarat.
Oral Health Therapist
With over 30 years in the dental profession, our Oral Health Therapist Tania is passionate about treating our youngest of patients. She believes in early intervention and prevention with fun visits to the dentist. To Tania, working with kids is not just about teeth, but building healthy smiles, minds and bodies.
Outside of Dana St Dental, she loves cooking up a storm at home for her family and friends, travels in the caravan to sample a wine or two, and walks with the furkids.
Oral Health Therapist
Kendall graduated amongst the top of her class with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy from Charles Sturt University. Her clinical interests include children’s dentistry, orthodontics, and oral health promotion.
Kendall is dedicated to improving the dental health of her patients through education and prevention. She will spend time with each and every patient to instil optimal oral health habits. Kendall’s bubbly and friendly nature will make all your appointments comfortable and enjoyable.
Outside of dentistry, Kendall enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
Hygienist
Benjamin Nguyen completed his Bachelor of Oral Health at The University of Melbourne. Previously working in Wangaratta, Ben is an experienced Oral Health Therapist that has grown accustomed to the regional lifestyle.
Ben enjoys the hygiene aspect of dentistry and believes in the importance of good oral care habits with regular appointments to achieving great oral health. Ben is an empathetic individual who strives to provide a gentle dental experience.
Outside of work, Ben likes to go out with friends, read and lie down on the couch.
